The commentary to the attached papers to set out the presentations to council over the last year suggesting changes to the way the council is appointed – either through direct election or by nomination. It also changes the number of seats and their designation to geographic area or to sector or group.
It is complex to arrive at a balance that truly represents a changing profession and alters the current majority of geographic seats and where the boundaries are drawn.
For Middlesex it will mean that members fall within either NW London or SW London segments and the latest proposals bridge the river where the historic County of Middlesex does not.
This note does not address a number of underlying questions such as whether the new structure would achieve better governance for the profession or how representatives are best able to engage with members.
